Spreader Bar Length: Overall, Attachment and Packed Size
A spreader bar’s stated length is useful only when you know where the measurement starts and ends. Overall length, attachment-point spacing and packed length describe different things. Ask which one the listing reports before comparing two products.
This article concerns reading product specifications for adult restraint equipment. It does not recommend a body position or a width for a particular person, and it does not treat a dimension as a load rating. If you need to compare what is included, use the separate bar-only versus kit guide.
Identify the endpoints of every measurement

Ask for a labelled sketch or a photograph with the measurement endpoints marked. A number next to an unlabelled arrow can still be ambiguous if the image shows several rings or fittings. Record the units beside the number rather than assuming centimetres or inches.
Do not rank two unlabeled ranges
Suppose an illustrative product A lists an overall assembled range of 600–900 mm, while product B lists attachment-point spacing of 580–880 mm. It would be premature to conclude that B is shorter in every comparable configuration. The two ranges describe different endpoints.
First ask both sellers for the same measurement at the relevant settings. Keep the original figures in your notes and add the clarified values separately. These invented ranges demonstrate a comparison problem; they are not specifications for an IRONVOW product.
A range does not describe every intermediate setting
A minimum and maximum tell you the ends of a stated range. They do not by themselves tell you whether the product adjusts continuously or has a defined set of positions. If an intermediate dimension matters, request the available settings rather than assuming every value between the endpoints is possible.
Similarly, a statement that there are several positions does not establish equal increments. Ask for a setting list or a marked diagram if you need to compare the adjustment pattern. Do not infer position spacing from the scale of a marketing photograph.
Keep accessories separate from the bar dimension
A connector can add another measurement, and its orientation can change how an assembled combination sits. A bar’s published dimension is not automatically the dimension of the complete combination with separate hardware attached.
List the bar, attachment fittings and any separate accessories as distinct components. If you already own a component, ask about the exact interface rather than relying on descriptions such as “standard clip.” Physical dimensions alone also do not establish that a combination is suitable for an intended use.
Check storage dimensions independently
“Packs down” is incomplete without saying what is being measured. The longest disassembled section can differ from the final parcel length because packaging and other components also take space. A storage case needs usable internal dimensions, while a delivery quotation may need the packed parcel’s external dimensions and weight.
If compact storage is important, ask which parts are removed, how many loose pieces remain, and what dimensions describe the stored arrangement. Follow the product’s own assembly instructions; do not assume different models come apart in the same way.
Send one precise measurement question
For [product URL and variant], please identify the endpoints used for the published length range. Is it overall assembled length or spacing between specified attachment points? Please confirm the available adjustment settings and explain whether the packed length describes the longest component or the complete parcel. A labelled diagram would help.
Keep the reply with the product URL and date. Put an unanswered dimension into the comparison worksheet as “not confirmed,” rather than filling it from an estimate.
